Meet the team Work with us

AIMS is a small research group at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, CTU in Prague. We work on the full acoustic measurement chain, from sensors and signal processing to the algorithms that turn raw sound into useful information.

Our application areas include detecting gunshots and drone signatures, localizing sound sources with microphone arrays, and classifying acoustic scenes in real time. What ties it all together is careful instrumentation: we believe good acoustics starts with trustworthy measurements.

What we do

Gunshot detection

Robust detection of impulsive acoustic events in noisy, reverberant environments, from single sensors to distributed networks.

Drone detection

Passive acoustic recognition of unmanned aerial vehicles by their rotor and motor signatures, including early warning at range.

Acoustic localization

Estimating the position and trajectory of sound sources with microphone arrays using time-difference-of-arrival and beamforming.

Sound classification

Machine-learning models that distinguish and label acoustic events, tuned for real-time operation on edge hardware.

Instrumentation & measurement

Design and calibration of acoustic sensors and measurement chains, the trustworthy data foundation for everything above.
